You say you love me and it's inviting to go where life is more exciting
But I was raised on country sunshine

I was raised on country sunshine, green grass beneath my feet

I guess she was raised on the sunshine in between the beatings as a kid. Nice touch dad.

Yeah. I grew up on a farm. Cane pole, shotgun, collie dog ... roaming the pastures ... fishing in the old cattle stock tank .... climbing on the barn roof ... smoking grapevines .... swimming .... Ah, those were the days .... Lots of good old Country Sunshine .... and the fresh smell of cow manure .......

One of the greatest country singers, and one of her best songs. Coke did alright with that one, and Dottie won a Clio. Her talent was of a rare variety: without a great deal of variation in tone, volume, etc. she could sing the range of emotion we are likely to experience in the course of a normal day, or year, or love affair. Perhaps this had much to do with the fact that she suffered far more before she left high school than most of us could endure. I miss her so.
