Biography
Don Li, born 1971 in Berne, Switzerland, is composer, clarinetist, multi-instrumentalist and creator of the music concept TONUS-MUSIC. Founder and art director of the TONUS-MUSIC-RECORDS label, he is initiator and curator of the TONUS-MUSIC Labor in Berne, Switzerland. As a child, the autodidact played the drums, piano and saxophone. He wrote his first composition at the age of 16 and investigated music with unprecedented daily perseverance. He developed a pronounced character in playing and conception. He is active in various musical ensembles and collaborates in the production of cds as clarinetist, composer and producer. He plays in concerts and attends festivals in all of Europe, Russia and New York. After producing numerous commissioned works, among the which is one for Xala and symphonic orchestra, his recent pieces deal with the concept of consciously structuring time. These compositions last exactly 60 minutes and integrate moving images and the technique of computer generated surround images and the technique of computer generated surround sound. Five Cycles on Time Square / New York 2002, The Longest Journey / New York 2003, Time-Experience / Berne 2003, New Ballet for Xala / Berne 2004, etc.
