Don Caballero is a critically-acclaimed instrumental rock group from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are often categorized as math rock, though the band dislikes this label. The group took their name from the character Guy Caballero, portrayed by Joe Flaherty, on the sketch comedy show Second City Television. In SCTV’s parody of the film The Godfather, Guy Caballero is called “Don Caballero.”

Don Caballero (affectionately called “Don Cab” or “The Don” by fans) formed in the summer of 1991, released five albums on Touch And Go Records between 1993 and 2000, then disbanded in November 2000. Drummer Damon Che recruited new personnel for a reconstituted Don Caballero in 2003, but this new lineup has been met with mixed reception from fans. They have since signed to Relapse Records and released a new album, titled World Class Listening Problem, on May 16, 2006.

I don't understand how they can still be using this name? Damon Che should have just called the band something else and released those two albums. I think he pulled a Billy Corgan trying have success from a name. Pretty lame.

I like Punkgasm, but I think the thing that keeps it from being really great is its straightforwardness. the most understated songs on the album will probably stand out on listens a few years from now

hmmm, I think WCLP is their best record to-date. pretty odd that people think, their "older stuff is better", because I bet they don't listen to their older stuff, just a couple of tracks from American Don and half of WBNR at best... anyway, punkgasm isn't that bad, and it's sure up there with American Don in terms of "best to worst Don Cab records".

i really like world class listening problem despite a lot of negative reviews. punkgasm is just awful though. and its not even the vocals that ruin it, there is something just really bad about the album. i cant get into it. love every other album though :) especially what burns

World Class Listening Problem is such a great record, I think is terribly underrated by some people. "What Burns" is my favorite by far. Also, I can't take Battles too seriously with their goofy vocals.
