There are at least five bands named Doldrums.
1. An band of Airick Woodhead from Toronto and Montreal, Canada (formed around 2010).
2. An band from Fairfax, Virginia, US (were active in 1994-2000).
3. A / band from Denver, Colorado, US (released an EP and album in 2007-2008).
4. A band from Gainesville, Florida, US (released an album and EP in 1987-1988).
5. A band from Bochum, Germany (released a single in 1984).

1) A project of a Montreal based musician and videoartist Airick Woodhead started around 2010. He creates intense music for staying up all night, just thinking. It’s “a sea of chopped up samples, disembodied vocals and tribal percussion. Electro-hallucinogenic freak outs and fuzzy warm nostalgia” (No Pain in Pop).

2) An / band from Fairfax, Virginia, consisted of Justin Chearno (guitar), Bill Kellum (bass), and Matt Kellum (drums). They were active between 1994 and 2000, having released four albums. Their music was highly improvised, and they almost did not play live. Justin Chearno also played in Pitchblende in the mid-90s, now lives in NYC and plays in Turing Machine, Panthers, and others. Bill Kellum has been running the Vhf label since 1991, which has released recordings by Skullflower, Flying Saucer Attack, Pelt, Rake, Wingtip Sloat, Total, Sunroof!, Richard Youngs/Simon Wickham-Smith, etc. Matt Kellum plays in a band called Chomsky.
1995 - Secret Life of Machines

The new album is pretty good but you have to go and see the 'live' performance. . .full of energy and absolutely amazing!

Ok, updated the wiki. Mentioned all the bands with this name that I found (and that released some material) at the beginning. Then added/updated the descriptions (be sure to update further). Sorted them by the number of listeners.

Amazing how these new artists/bands when choosing a name don't even bother to check whether it was used before. I mean, of course there are many bands in the world with the same name, which are just unknown. But in this case, the 90s avant-garde Doldrums wasn't quite unknown. There were reviews of all their albums on Allmusic, articles in Pitchfork and NME, etc. There was quite a critical acclaim of their work. Even Piero Scaruffi wrote some good words. I'm sure the new guy makes some good music. The connection with Grimes says something. Still, a bit annoying to have his photo in the library associated to the original Doldrums. The same problem as with Skin, e.g., which we have to tag as The World of Skin. I've uploaded a picture of them (no stylish haircuts - let's start down-voting), updated the bio. I think the block about them should be returned to the beginning of the page, considering their contribution to music, but have not done this for obvious reasons.

Who cares if there's a cover? The album seems to be named after a Mr. Bungle song anyways. My response to this album: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
