Dogsolitude_uk started off writing music using an Amiga600 and Protracker, after listening to the Aphex Twin extensively during the summer holidays of 1992. The music mainly consisted of drumloops and other samples.

Since then he has juggled a number of day jobs and other responsibilities (including studying for a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy), and in his spare time pursued an interest in classical music composition. He came back to writing music using Virtual Studio Technology almost accidentally in 2001 after purchasing a PC which had a demo version of Cubase installed.

He continues to develop his understanding and approach to music theory and composition through writing his own music, aiming for a Baroque style of electronica.

His main musical influences are Aphex Twin, Philip Glass and Michael Nyman. His current ambitions include writing music for computer games, and has a pipe-dream about scoring an Opera based around the life of Evariste Galois, a 19th Century mathematician.

He uses Garritan Personal Orchestra, Sibelius 4 and Orion for writing music, as well as various virtual synthesisers, such as Toxic and Absynth. All music is composed entirely using Zen, a Dual-Core Pentium PC named after the shipboard computer in Blake’s 7. He also plays Classical and electric guitar, and DJs from time to time at a local club.
