If anyone knows where one could purchase their debut album, "The Great Spectacular" on CD or vinyl, please let me know. I've been trying to search everywhere, but so far without result.

I highly recommend the video of a Dregs performance at the 1978 Montreux Jazz Festival. I was fortunate enough to attend a Dregs show on the U.S. leg of that tour, organized to support the band's' newly released third album, "Night of the Living Dregs." Actually, the second half of "Night" was recorded live at Montreux '78 on July 23. The video recording is of excellent quality, and I really dig the camera work, which seems to have me on stage with the band during the show. Too cool.... Uh, do I need to tell you folks that I'm a rabid Dregger? <chuckles> The band stole my musical heart, in '77, with the release of their first commercial LP, "Freefall". I was hooked when, driving home from work that day, a buddy and I heard "Cruise Control" on a local progressive rock station. We wanted desperately to make sure we didn't miss the DJ's announcement of the group's name: I stayed in my car, with the radio blaring, while he jumped out to crank up the living room stereo... Ahhh..

My GF and I were playing "Name That Tune" last year when she asked me, "Ever hear of the Dixie Dregs?" I told her I maybe heard the name. I thought they were probably a southern rock band like Lynyrd Skynyrd or The Allman Brothers. So she played "Refried Funky Chicken" for me and I knew right away I was very wrong in my assumption because these guys were ridiculous. Couldn't believe I missed them the first time around. And I was into jazz fusion too, back then. After downloading and listening to another 20 of their songs, I'm convinced they're the greatest band to ever play rock music.
