Saddest band breakup EVER. Dixie Dirt shows were the most magical fucking experience. Nobody has ever seen live music that was so intimate and emotional. Ever. I have never in my life known music to be so moving. The recorded stuff is awesome but it can't hold a candle to the beauty of their live shows. It can't really be put into words.
Dixie Dirt is the chronic. I like Kat's (singer/song writer) voice and lyrics very much so. Like Bright Eyes she is able to present observations in a clever, unusual, and truthful manner. "Don't turn the music down we're already down enough." This line is from their song "boulevards". I love playing my music loud. It's just a lot better that way. But there's always some peacekeeper around to tell me to turn it down. Then I get sad, because I can't rock out as hard when my music's all soft 'n stuff. Or I go to jail for a noise violation. Either or. Good line, glad Dixie Dirt feels the same way I do. I've been listening to their album, "on our way like we never met" lately. The title says it all. Kat captures and describes the loneliness and "what the fuckiness?" you get when your girlfriend/boyfriend just take off one day, and completely ignore u, as though you never shared anything together, as though u never met. And in my case, de-friend u on facebook too. Good music.
