Who doesn't know what I'm talking about
Who's never left home, who's never struck out
To find a dream and a life of their own
A place in the clouds, a foundation of stone

With a name like the Dixie Chicks, perhaps people assumed they fit ever "Southern white" stereotype there was. Their comment about Bush in the UK, and the subsequent backlash, clarified who "the real fans" were. It's important for people not to presume they know who you are based on what you look like, where you're from, etc. Chances are they are in for a pleasant surprise or a rude awakening, it depends on how open-minded they are, it's not about you.

"Can you imagine if they'd never picked up Natalie? Who would they even be?" More respected. Adding to my ban list.
