Godsmack was one of those bands, that was signed in the wake of Korn and other nu-metal acts like Disturbed, who shared a similar kind of sound.
Heavily influenced by Alice in Chains, Godsmack's brand of heavy rock and Sully Erna's unique voice was pretty awesome (he can also play some mean drums). But after four albums they just didn't seem to evolve enough (for my taste) and instead all the albums after Faceless just sounded the same. Which is a pity, because Godsmack was and still is very potential band, capable of writing good rock songs.
Personal highlight: Voodoo (from the album Godsmack)
