Biography
Discuss is the musical outlet of Andrés Ortiz-Ferrari (Ekofield, Young Frankenstein).
For the first release, the ‘self-titled’ Discuss album was a collaborative approach between Ortiz-Ferrari and Evan Wood (Player Piano and Planet of Sound.) In this album, the two combined their musical talents, using a mix of acoustic instruments, synths, samples and anything they can get their hands on, to make music that is completely their own without shying away from their influences. A reminiscent sound of early mornings, or really late nights, the self titled discuss album flows from IDM influenced tracks, to more indie-rock outfits.
After working together for several years, Evan and Andrés parted ways.
Andrés continued to work solo under the ‘Discuss’ alias and released an online e.p. aptly titled ‘Monologues e.p.’
Following the release of monologues, Jim Doutrich (Ennui) was added to the mix. Here ‘Aeration Swells’, the follow-up full length was born. Jim brought a more vocal approach to Discuss, as well as more instrumentation and vision. Working together, Andrés and Jim let out a beast of an album, home recorded and aptly titled.
A new Discuss release, ‘Travels of a Paradigm’ is in the works, This release is Ortiz-Ferrari’s attempt at constructing a solo record, relying on his own individual abilities. Some collaborators will make appearances as well as new gear will be showcased… keep your ears open.
