Dioniz is Croatian hard rock bend from Split, Croatia, founded in 1991.
After numerous line-up changes, by the end of `90`s band finally stabilized with this line-up:
Davor Gavran - vocal, rhythm guitar
Dario Bakota - lead guitar
Petar Šantić - bass
Alen Pavelić - drums
After sending some demo recordings to the major Croatian label Croatia Records, they received positive reactions and soon they were offered a contract, which they accepted.
Their first album called Ništa o Ljubavi (“Nothing About Love”) was released in 1999, and one video was recorded; for the song Idem I Dolazim.

Soon after that, Petar Šantić and Dario Bakota left the band.
Replacements were found in Ivan Ivanišević (bass, also in ŠEJN and Libar) and Mario Stojan (lead guitar).
Recording of the second album started in 2002 and lasted for almost two years, due to many problems and complications.
Dioniz signed contract for the release of their second album with Dallas Records, and soon the dicision was made to release “Ubi Bacchus Ibi Venus” as two separate albums, instead of one double album, which was the original idea…
Ubi Bacchus Ibi Venus…vol.1 was released in 2005 and two videos were recorded, for the songs Kost and Ona Zna.
Ubi Bacchus Ibi Venus…vol.2 is still not officially relased.
