Can't describe how great the long songs are in this album, especially because of the long guitar solos.

Classic album, but the compression overkill is unforgivable. It almost ruins it.

"Said The People" and "I Don't Wanna Go There" are two of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

I've been a Dj fan for, well, let's face my age....two decades....i saw this band as a teenager in their so called heydey but after listening to this album a dozen times now it is hard for me not to call this the grandest achievement. it is really a great driving, droney, poppy, heartfelt punk tour de force with plenty of the sweetness adn the guitar fireworks they are known for and my god the drumming is fucking those are silly words...but this is indeed close to a masterpiece.

Slangdon, I really think this lo-fi sound is intentionally and personally, I love it.

"@sglangdon: you really dont understand dinosaur jr., do you" I really do. I just got a defective copy of the album; the defective one sounds fucking horrible.

So. Much. Guitar solo. [2] God, yes. I get this feeling sometimes that mainstream rock these days just butchers solos and virtuosity - it's so refreshing to hear so much guitar glory in this album.

Really really horribly mastered. I'd listen to it a lot more if the sound wasn't so crushed. Plans, Pieces and Your Weather are all really really great tracks... Just a shame it's so damn loud and distorted.

"This is an incredibly strong album compared to the relatively disappointing Beyond. Love it." ... if you hated Beyond, you're not a real fan of this band.

It takes a really great band to go on hiatus for 10 years, get back together, and manage to release two albums that are just as great as the stuff they'd been doing before.

Personally, this is my fave album from them. It's got the rawness from their early years, but the cleaner playing that comes with newer recording tech. It's a classic.

"Is there anyone who can actually hear the bass on this album?" yes, but it's certainly not as awesome as in you're living all over me.

I have the faulty CD version and I wonder whether I should switch? Will it really make that much difference? Also, part of me thinks it might become collectible or something. Having a deafening version might be good one day.

What a bunch of ignorance being spouted. Yes, the European version is even louder, somehow. I have the "proper" version, and when you look at a waveform, it's almost a brick wall, with clipping evident everywhere. This thing is compressed, and that's exactly the point; there are no layers to be "unfurled", no matter what your equipment is. In fact, the better equipment reveals the shit sound even more.

Of course many of you don't have a problem with how it sounds; all you know are albums that sound like shit. Read up on the "loudness war" and compare this album with another album from Dinosaur that is properly mastered (like Where You Been). Just because you don't recognize the poor mastering doesn't mean the album is mastered properly.

I consider myself an audiophile but I have no problem with this album. Everyone should invest in a speaker system that suits you and create an equalizer setting specifically for this album and it'll be alright.

  • jarizappa

Seems like they updated spotify with the "correct", not so loud version. This is the first time I've been able to listen to more than 2 songs in a row! And about the loudness war; Dino's sounds include noise and loud mastering/recording. I wouldn't want it any other way.
