Ding Dang

There is more than one artist with this name:

1) In 1999, Probe Records in California released a 13 song album by a band called Ding Dang. The band featured members of Verbal Abuse, Operation Ivy, Tales of Terror and 23 More Minutes. Described on Probe’s website as: “Aging and raging punk rockers playing raucous country music.” This is perhaps one of the original inspirations for the current trend of established punk bands getting into playing country or blues music. The band toured when it was together, but never generated much of a following. They are long since broken up.

2) Chinese pop singer Ding Dang (叮当) released her second album, Decisively Loved, or Wo Ai Shang De (我爱上的), following her debut release, Run Away From Home, Li Jia Chu Zou (离家出走). With this sophomore album, Ding Dang has grown from the adamant young girl who ran away from home into a woman with more nuanced feelings. In her second album, Ding Dang continues to belt out love ballads, but also exhibits her talents as a dancing queen. The album is a fusion of pop, hip-hop, funky dance beats and Korean techno.
