Die Apokalyptischen Reiter are a melodic death metal/folk metal band founded in 1995 in Thuringia, Germany and is signed to the Nuclear Blast label. Their name translates to “Horsemen of the Apocalypse”.

Their original style (featured on their releases up to and including “Allegro Barbaro”) consists of death metal blended with melodic compositions establishing a more epic mood than usual in traditional death metal. folk metal influences were added in later albums, while the death metal influence has declined, resulting in less chaotic composition (often centered around a verse and chorus with a bridge and solo), more constant tempo, longer songs and some clean vocals, resulting in a more polished and accessible sound.

Concerts projected for 2007, commencing at the Antwerp Hof Ter Loo venue on April 27th, were announced as the ‘Earthshaker Roadshock’ tour in union with After Forever, Tarot, Finntroll, Machine Men and All Ends.

The band are going to release the DVD from that concert in the spring of april. And will go back into the studios to make another album.

unterirdisch is noch untertrieben, aber ich denke oldschool wird da nix mehr sein, das neue album wird sicher n andres lyrisches thema haben und kann dementsprechend kaum schlechter als licht sein, weil sie die gutmenschen geschichte jetzt eigentlich schon ausgenutzt haben aber musikalisch wird das sicherlich nich so bombe..

CatMan ist immernoch Schuld. Licht war sicher nicht so erfolgreich, wie sie sich das erhofft hatten, und haben sie deshalb rausgeschmissen, ihre Gitarren-Spuren sind teilweise einfach unterirdisch, und der Reiter nicht würdig. Ich glaube zwar nicht an den großen Umbruch, die Reiter hatten immer ihre eigene Nische, aber etwas mehr Oldschool könnte das neue Album dann doch werden, mit Ady's Hilfe.

Am Anfang hab ich auch immer versucht, der Lady Cat-Man die Schuld für Licht zu geben, aber wenn man mal so überlegt: Sie lassen Pitrone gehen weil er mit dem Stil der Band nicht mehr vereinbar ist und holen sich dann eine Gitarristin ran, die starken Einfluss auf eben den Stil hat, den sie sich nicht von einer Einzelperson verändern lassen wollten?
