    It's not his warped mind at all. Dido has even confirmed live what the subject of the song is (If I recall correctly, it's on her Brixton Academy DVD) Her best friend is actually called Mary, and the song was born when Mary went to India. However, it grew from there into fictional territory. She even said if it were true, it would make her a total bitch, so she's glad it's not :P
