Biography
William Wells, who was better known as Dicky Wells, was born in Centerville Tennessee in 1907
In 1926 he moved to New York where he joined the Lloyd Scott band. He was a trombonist in the Bassie band from 1938 to 1950 with a 2 year break in1945. He also played with Benny Carter, Ray Charles, Buck Clayton, Fletcher Henderson, Teddy Hill and Jimmy Rushing amonst others. He died in 1985.
