I figure since every week I have a different #1 artist in my weekly charts that I will write why I have been addicted to said artist. SO let's start with last weeks artist: Man or Astro Man?
So these guys are ridiculously good surf rock from the 90's. And why I have been listening to surf rock lately eludes me. It was probably because one of the best concerts I was at last year was Dick Dale at the North Star in Philly. I was right up close to a legend and it was some of the greatest guitar work I have ever seen live and that close up. He played some excellent tracks like Nitro and Miserlou. He did covers of Deep Purple in the surf rock style that were mind numbingly great. Then I went on a search on this ol website for new artists. 16 Jan 2007, 07:47 by meandmymouseI have to say, nothing gets me pumped up like a good surf track. The first time I heardMiserlou I thought, "Man this is it!". All that wet reverb is like a shot of adrenaline.
I do recognize that some people find surf music to be repetitive but if you give it a chance you just might find a whole lot to love.
I don't know what else to say about it but I'll just list a few killer tracks that never get old for me.
