Bradley ‘Dez’ Fafara (born May 12, 1966) is the current vocalist for DevilDriver and the ex-vocalist of Coal Chamber.
Dez is of Italian descent. His father, Tiger Fafara, was a child actor on the Leave It to Beaver sitcom, playing the character “Tooey Brown.”
Dez’s wife is named Anahstasia, and she appears on the cover of the second Coal Chamber album Chamber Music. Dez has 3 sons: Tyler, Simon and Kaleb. “Tylers Song”, from the album Chamber Music, was written for Tyler. Simon, age 9, recently added backing growls on DevilDriver’s third album, The Last Kind Words (2007), on the song Tirades Of Truth, during the last two lines of the chorus.
Dez has a great fondness for wine, particularly chianti.
Dez released a total of 5 albums with Coal Chamber. Three of the albums, Coal Chamber (1997), which went gold, Chamber Music (1999), and Dark Days (2002), consisted of new material. An album of remixes, rarities, and b-sides, titled Giving the Devil His Due (2003) and a “Best Of” (2004) were also released. Coal Chamber disbanded in 2003, shortly after Dez formed his current band DevilDriver. Recently, Meegs said in an interview on VM Underground that he and Dez were in their 20s when Coal Chamber were signed.
Dez refuses to talk about his earlier years with Coal Chamber but the subject of their break up was that according to Meegs in a recent interview that their relationship was tearing down.
Currently, Dez has released four albums with DevilDriver, DevilDriver (2003), The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand (2005), The Last Kind Words (2007), and Pray For Villains (2009).

Of all the complaining i see about a band or style. Really, all that can be said is the fact that they are doing a shit load better then any one here is doing in the music world. Some people bitch about "Guitar Solos" like that is what makes a great song. Forget the level of arrangement, forget the context of the lyrics, forget the complexity the over all mix may or may not be. As long as it has some genuine effect on people, who really cares? I don't mind coal chamber and Devildriver for who they are as bands, but before anyone spouts of on who sucks at what? All that can really be said is this. How is your music stack next to theirs? How is your Album doing? Has it topped the charts? Has it touched a large following? the response is clearly: NO, it hasn't..

I don't have a personal hatred towards a Dez and his band, I just think his music flat out blows chunks, and that "groove metal" is a retarded name for a genre that doesn't even exist.

This sounds like your personal opinion, nothing more. Muzic is a diverse thing - lots of various artists that have the right to exist. Calling them names - that's not serious. There is no nu-metal in the present day DevilDriver - "Pray for Villains", there never was in "The Last Kind Words". Dez is by no means what you call him and what you think he is. He's a person who is worth being respected. This is getting nowhere, fellow, just because you have some kind of personal hatred towards Dez and his band.

You are incorrect, it does not seem that way. Devildriver is one of the most mindless, boring "metal" bands out there. They're up there with Slipknot and Mudvayne, just basic, lame riffs, horrible nu metal vocals and little to no guitar solo. Awful, awful display of "music", if you can even call it that. Coal Chamber was worse, but at least they knew their place and acted like a nu metal band instead of trying to be all "br00tal" but still sucking.

DevilDriver - Nu metal? Just heavy metal? Oh, boy, you've got very profound knowledge of muzic genres... You call the band shit and Dez Fafara a faggot and you claim to be a fan of Pantera. No offence, dude, but it seems that you are clueless after all.

It's nothing. A buzz word made up by clueless fans of Pantera (yes I know I'm a fan too, but not clueless). People just labeled them that after Pantera kept using the word "groove" in their interviews, so some fan probably just created the sub-genre. I think post-thrash is a better sounding term, because that's what it is. Bands like Exhorder, late Sepultura etc. that rose in the vein of thrash. As far as what I'd call Devildriver, personally I call it shit. But if I had to give it a label, I'd say nu metal, or just heavy metal. More buzz words, but ones that people actually use and don't sound corny.
