Biography
Devlin Love, (singer songwriter/guitar/piano/melodica), was born on March 1st 1985. Mother Malaysian, Father Scottish.
Education included Anna Scher Theatre school, Pimlico, and Queens College. Starting with solo performances aged 13, she has been singing with Gaz Mayall’s The Trojans for 7 years, and Alabama 3 for the last 4 years.
She has also recorded with many various producers and artists such as Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (rock legends), Prince Buster’ (pioneer of jamaican ska), up coming band The Qemists, Pablo Cook (Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, Lily Allen, Pulp) just to name an eclectic few.
Influences
Musical influences are myriad from 1965 Jamaican ska, to blues, jazz, country, pop, rock, and classical. Favourite artists include Billie Holiday, Blur, Brian Wilson, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Sonny Terry, and Brownie McGhee, Gwen Stefani, Desmond Dekker, Phyllis Dillon, Syd Barratt, Gorrillaz, and many more… Looking for a record company that fits the cut of her gib… dream producer… D.J Danger Mouse.
Devlin Love currently does her own production on garageband, and has managed to tie in all aspects of her influences, into an exciting, catchy, and fresh new sound that has been described as folk/pop/blues/reggae.
Performances
After a childhood of varied performances, there is no stage she doesn’t feel confident on.
Best performing moments;
Ronnie Scotts, Abbey Road, Glastonbury, Radio 2 with Mark Lamarr, T-in the Park, Memphis Blues and Soul festival, Supporting Alabama3 on the Outlaw tour, and with them (acoustic) supporting The Tennessee 3 (Johnny Cash’s band), and The late Captain Beefhearts’ ‘Magic Band’, just to name a few.
