This version is better because it is taken out of the context of Ziltoid. Vocalist aside, that makes this superior. Don't get me wrong. Ziltoid is one of my favorite albums, but "Hyperdrive" just stuck out. It transcended the album. Listening to it by itself was annoying because of the spoken word part. On Ziltoid, it was fused into the concept and unable to break free. Here it can be enjoyed in glorious, stand-alone form. I very much prefer this one.
