took me a long time to even slightly like this song. there's something about the intro that always stopped me from listening to a whole song. i know this song is considered one of their bests, and Dave even said it's his favourite, but for some reason i could never give it a proper listen. but now it's different, i see the beauty. it grew on me. or maybe i grew. either way, gorgeous track.

and another thing that is really sad is that a lot of people say home including some people who worked with DM on the album said that home was about Dave and how much martin cares about him and wants him to get his life together. which I think everyone believes that is the case when he sings this line "God send the only true friend I call mine" he is saying that dave is the only true friend he ever really believed was his own.

the funny thing is dave was at his height here but not his height on heroin yet so when they started ultra in I think 94 he was so missed up a drugs they thought we have to end the band because dave is done he can't sing. and then when dave gahan died for like a min and was brought back by paramedics he changed his life around within a month that is what I love about DM is that they are so inspiring they were on the verge of being destroyed by drinking and drugs but came back from it and not only came back but with what maybe one of their best cds with ultra and then martin gave up drinking in 2005 so they all say they have never been getting along better or been happier with the band and themselves :)
