I think of Black Celebration as the peak of DM's second phase, which started with Construction Time Again and ended with this album. There are so many winners on this one and almost no filler to speak of, which isn't always the case for DM.

Might sound silly, but I think it's DM's sexiest record. Love the urgent feel of Question of Time.

V yeah it's pretty different from a lot of their stuff. I find it to be one of the few album that I can really appreciate as a whole (the others being the two that came after this). Most of the others have really good moments but are inconsistent.

Honestly, the only Depeche Mode album I like. But holy fluxx, I've been playing it for over a decade and I'm still finding new things to love about it (in, ya know, a gloomy alienated sort of way).

"this album would've been so much better had New Dress been the closer" New Dress is the closing track. The others are just bonus tracks. Anyway, Black Celebration is a true masterpiece. Some of the best music ever put to tape.

V except for A Question of Lust. I always loved that one. In fact, I wish Martin Gore did lead vocals on more DM tracks - his singing efforts really make this album.

I didn't like any of the singles from this one until I heard them in the context of the album. Even now, I feel they're far from the best tracks on here.
