The blues, like jazz, suffers a bit from having the same material performed far too often. How many more versions does one need of “Stormy Monday?” Denny Earnest, a very talented individual, aims to change all of that. A composer who has had much success in writing music for films, television and the studios, shows like, “Friends”, “Judging Amy”, many episodes of “Its Always Sunny In “Philadelphia”, “Cold Case Files” CBS, NBC’s “Poker After Dark” , Larry King Live, MTV “Run’s House” featured 8 of his “Slack Key” “tunes in “Hawaiian Vacation” also “Real World”, “Date My House”, “Blue Crush” Movie, National Lampoon’s “Bag Boy”. Recent shows “Jenny Craig show” NBC, Friday night Lights “Always” season ender…
Denny currently resides in Paradise Valley MT, writing and recording at his “Ranchito” tucked away a stone’s throw from the “Yellowstone River” not a bad place to write, and record, and fish. A multi-stylist, fingerstyle, slide, dobro, Weissenborn, upright bass, and a strong male vocalist, makes him a savy studio musician, and much in demand. His music, which is comprised of blues at a variety of tempos and grooves, its timeless, yet the songs have new and fresh approach, instrumentals sit in beds of Delta vibe, on vocals he sings with a Clapton-esque feel, the well traveled blues man.
“Quite a few of his songs deserve to catch on as blues standards and should be listened to by blues performers wishing to add some fresh material.”
says Scott Yanow, author of ten jazz books including Jazz On Record 1917-76, Jazz On Film and The Jazz Singers.
