Demet Akalın is one of the most famous singers in Turkey. Her songs, mostly become summer hits and usually include lyrics about broken relationships, fights and being stronger afterwards. She became famous a decade ago having a relationship with the famous basketball player Ibrahim Kutluay. Then they broke up and she started her music career with her hit single “Senin Anan Güzel Mi” (Is Your Mother Beautiful) and became popular with the hit album “Unuttum” (I Forgot You). In year 2004 she became widely popular with the hit song Bittim (I am Done) and she even won the Best Song Award in Kral TV Music Awards 2005 (the most prestigious music award in Turkey) with the Ersay Üner song “Aşkın Açamadığı Kapı”(The Door That Love Can’t Open) which was later on translated to Hebrew and Greek and became amazingly popular throughout Europe and Middle East. She still continued her career and in summer 2006 there was a Demet Akalın blast with her album Kusursuz 19 (the Perfect 19). All of her video songs became number 1 on music boards and she won several awards including the Altın Kelebek (Golden Butterfly - very very prestigious) and MÜYAP Golden Record. In 2007 she released a brand new single - Tatil (Vacation) which also became popular and finally in February 2008 she released her latest album “Dans Et” (Dance Please) and she became the queen of dance music in Turkey with the singles “Mucize” (Miracle) “Dans Et” (Dance) and “Bebek” (Baby). She is now preparing her remix dance album which she is planning to release in summer 2009.
