• Top 10 Artist Highlights, 10/15-22/2006

    Regular readers of this blog know the usual suspects on my Top 10 charts, and why they always opo up (e.g. Brian Eno and Cocteau Twins at bedtime). So I'm remodeling this thread forthwith to concentrate first-timers, occasional appearances, and special events (new album, seeing them live, et al). This will save a bit of time, which I always vote for.

    8. Utopia: Obviously an off-shoot of my Todd Rundgren geek mode in the form of Deface The Music (recommended for fans of The Rutles). Plus, they figure in the story of the band who should rank #1 next week easily...

    6. The Rubinoos: The Beserkley-era Anthology is represented here, but I digitized Party Of Two (see previous countdown) on Sunday and have been listening OVER AND OVER just like I did when I first bought it at 14. All five cuts, plus the cassette-only interview. I don't have any definite news yet, but it's possible I might get to interview Jon Rubin AND Tommy Dunbar (most likely a phoner) on Sound Awake! Oh yeah, happy King. …
