About this album

The Deathray ‘White Sleeves EP’ is five songs clocking in at just under fifteen minutes. Opening with the pleasant natural sounds of chirping wild birds, on the song ‘Make and Do’, the tone is set for a lively, soaring sampling of carefree tunes.

The title song ‘White Sleeves’ is a gimmicky and slightly goofy song that brings to mind deep voiced Russian doctors in lab coats and spectacles. The next two songs blend well on the disc but in that same respect are successful in not standing out. They pleasantly float by but don’t catch much attention. As is usually the case with any decent EP, the listeners’ appetite is merely whet in anticipation or desire for another five or six songs, and especially in this case ending the cd with the catchiest song just makes the desire stronger. ‘Let’s be Friends’ recalls the feeling of those wild birds heard on the first track and reminds you of a breezy summer day spent lazing in the grass with someone pretty, playing with heartstrings. All the strings on the cd are ready made for light-movie soundtracks. Short, three-minute jaunts of flighty fun that leave only one question: when can we get some more?
