I don't understand how the first five bonus tracks on this are really, really crappy, yet the last five are PURE GOLD

To all the people saying this album sucks: get the damn context right. This album basically consists of nothing more than just demos, so come on.. do not compare this to plans or narrow stairs or even something about airplanes.

"There are definitely some gems on this album." lol I hate the word gem used in albums...good album anyway

I don't really understand how some fans don't acknowledge this album out of some loyalty to Something About Airplanes, when it has *nine* (nine) additional tracks.

Well, a lot of the songs sound like filler...because they kind of are? The original (and the first release for DCfC) only had 8 of these songs. Then it was re-released a few years later with bonus tracks..

1998 Something About Airplanes (( 5th )) --- 2000 We Have the Facts (( 6th )) 2001 The Photo Album (( 4th )) ----------------- 2003 Transatlanticism (( 1st )) 2005 Plans (( 2nd )) ------------------------------- 2008 Narrow Stairs (( 3rd )) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transatlanticism, Plans, and Narrow Stairs are all great and tied for first in their own different ways IMO, but I had to place them. Not ranking *You Can Play These* because it seems like more of an album that they did just for fun, and doesn't match up with their other CD's. *Plans* is probably their most well known CD. Hopefully this helps you in narrowing down a CD to buy or download. The top three are a must and much higher in quality than the others. *We Have The Facts* is much worse than the others IMO.
