Dearling Physique

Arriving as what MTV Iggy deemed “a new pop iconoclast,” Dearling Physique’s bold and exuberant debut full-length album Deadeye Dealer found a diverse audience captivated by its cinematic and synthesia-inducing sound. The universal acclaim that followed helped earn the band such recognition as Metromix’s “Artist To Watch” and MTV Iggy’s “Artist of the Week.” Dearling Physique’s stunning music video for the single “Discipline Your Hands” also received high praise, with favorable mentions from OUT Magazine, Afro Punk and The Onion.

In the spring of 2011, the highly respected Jerome Foundation awarded Dearling Physique front man Domino Davis the Travel & Study grant. With this, Domino re-located to Berlin, Germany via Minneapolis, Minnesota as a means of experiencing the themes of alienation, solitude, and otherness. Through a new understanding, Domino became inspired to fully explore a concept rooted in eternal youth. Alongside guitarist Matt Vannelli’s equally keen eye for detail, this concept became their bombastic interpretation of pop culture.

With a new sound in place, Dearling Physique re-connected with producer Lance Conrad (Halloween, Alaska, The Alpha Centauri) who worked with the band to round out their refined approach to song craft. What became of this collaboration was a handful of pop songs that were decidedly split into three EPs - meant to reflect different stages in the evolution of two runaway youth. With their forthcoming releases, appropriately titled “Tracing The Alphabet,” Dearling Physique captures a pop familiarity while leaving room for traces of their scattered influences.

That's really interesting music in the style of electronica / pop. First of all vocals. Nothing to do with Depeche Mode. Finally! There is nothing worse than an imitation of the great artists. The arrangements are perfectly minimalist. Instruments filed convincingly. No accumulation of unnecessary sounds, like many dark wave and synthpop bands of modern times. I recommend this project (DEARLING PHYSIQUE) to all lovers of melodic and cool electronic music.
