Deadman Flats arose from the salt mining town of Hutchinson Kansas out of the drunken smoke filled basements of their high school homes. After moving to Lawrence Kansas, Alex Law, Matt Stambaugh, and Hank Osterhout, began playing the bar circuit as a three piece before Mike Helvy, a local banjo folk hero joined up. With their first album, “Antlers,” the band opened for many great acts such as Hackensaw Boys, Split Lip Rayfield, Oakhurst, and even WAR. When Helvy stepped down, long time friend and jam buddy Pat Watt stepped up and took over the banjo work.

Now-a-days Deadman Flats is one of the fastest, rowdiest, profane acoustic obsessed punks in the mid-west. In between long cold road trips they have recently recorded a new album, “Read em and Weap” due out May 15th.
