Dark electronic, industrial, EBM, gothic rock, classical, cabaret and art song… all are vibrant influences on this new album by Dead Red Velvet. Toronto-based composer Karl Mohr rebrands his goth machine and unrolls the moniker Dead Red Velvet for the release of this latex-slick masterwork, “Full Moon Film”.
With vast, towering electronic arrangements, the album production has been underway for five years, resulting Mohr’s most tooled soundscape to date. It boasts the solid quality of a ‘best of’ album, highlighting Mohr at his best: inviting dark atmospheres, monstrous guitar and synth grooves, relentless dance tracks, clever sound design, intelligent lyrics rich in mystery, and his trademark vocal style.
Canadian electronic music producer Karl Mohr performs his evocative, dynamic, electronic songs with heavy beats, powerful vocal performances, glam swagger, scintillating piano work and dramatic, progressive lyrics in his darkly-lit incarnation, Dead Red Velvet.
After releasing 28 cassettes and 10 CDs under his own name, plus one release on CD/vinyl as Blue Visions and one official CD as Droid Charge, Karl Mohr was eager to find a new, identifiable outlet for his goth/industrial/darkwave material. Dead Red Velvet comprises his post-Fallen Angels period, with a focus on writing, atmosphere and live delivery.
