I just noted that "Within You Without You" thing myself, came here to post about it and saw there was nothing left for me to do... :D I love the way how sometimes a melody tickles your brain and makes you wonder "What other song does that bit remind me of?" - if I manage to come up with the answer. Otherwise it's annoying like an itch that you cannot reach to scratch :)

"Indus" and "Song of the dispossessed" make some of the best 14 minutes ever put on record... A monumental achievement even for DCD (2)

Amazing. (Oh, dude, I hear the Within You Without You reference. No, that's not plagiarism - that's just EPIC.)

Of course, when you are one of the most original bands ever then borrowing things from others ceases to be plagiarism and becomes something else entirely - no? Look at the Joy Division lyrics on "The Carnival Is Over" for example...

Sometimes the idea sounds a lot like Within You Without You by The Beatles, which can add a nice association to your song.

Sometimes you come up with an idea and don't realise until much later how similar it is to something else.
