I love the ambition, the creativity, and the drive they displayed on the album. I just feel they spread themselves too thin in regards to the genres, leaving much of the music quite dated. Still a quality LP though, only helped to gain my respect of them even more. http://dozensofdonuts.blogspot.com/2016/09/de-la-soul-and-anonymous-nobody-review.html
New album is very diversified. Some Dilla-esque beats here, some hard rockin' guitar solos there, some Pop-singers from the 80s here, some chillout there... De La Soul are not afraid to play with unusual styles (compared to most others). Since the beginning! Living legends, still great after more than 25 years!
Is it worth seeing them live if you only like their first 3 albums? I completely love those albums, but the rest I'm not a big fan of... Anyone knows if they still play lots of old songs live? Tickets are not exactly cheap, so I don't want to be like mehhhh throughout most of the concert :')
"In no way are we trying to disrespect any sort of house or club music, but we're just glad that we're not doing it. And if we were, this is how it would go."
Kicked out the house, you got
Kicked out the house, hip house
Kicked out the house for good
