Dawn Sanctum is a Russian post-progressive metal/synthpop band formed in 2007 under the same name by computer game OST composer Andrei ‘Orochi-chan’ Sazonov and D.F.K. lead guitarist and songwriter Uruno ‘UnStandart’ Nikimaru. The two original members, each having a distinctive taste in music and style of songwriting, originate from Kursk and St.Peterburg bands Rubber Luster and Dead Flame Kings (shortened to D.F.K. afterwards), respectively. Dawn Sanctum’s style is highly influenced by diverse musical interests of its founders. The bandmembers state Buck-Tick, Buckethead, Children of Bodom, Dream Theater, Gackt, Melotron, Mesh, Sonata Arctica as the main influences. The band has a main concept, based on a sci-fi post-cyberpunk manga story created by Orochi-chan, which puts the characters Orochi and Uruno (performed by bandmembers, respectively) into the world of future Earth terrorized with global wars for energy.
