David Spencer Ware (b. Plainfield, New Jersey, November 7, 1949) is an American jazz saxophonist.
He has recorded with Andrew Cyrille and Cecil Taylor, and has led his own quartet since the early 1990s. Pianist Matthew Shipp and double bassist William Parker have been in Ware’s quartet steadily; drummers have changed: following Marc Edwards, Whit Dickey, and Susie Ibarra, Guillermo E. Brown is now the drummer of the David S. Ware Quartet.

Dear friends, This is an urgent notice on David S. Ware’s health. David needs to find a kidney donor. David was diagnosed with kidney failure in 99 and began dialysis that fall. While certainly difficult, he has been able to travel and perform undiminished. However, late Dec, David called to say that after 9 years this treatment was no longer working, and that a kidney transplant is the only viable option for his survival. So far, friends and family members have all been disqualified due to health reasons or not having David's blood type, O. Some basic/initial requirements for viable donors are that they must be under 60 years of age, do not have diabetes or high blood pressure, are in general good health, and have blood type O (either O+ or O- is fine).
