Biography

David Hess (Born September 19th, 1942, died October 8th, 2011) was an American singer, songwriter, composer, actor, director and producer from New York City. He is often remembered for his role as the sadistic prison escapist Krug in Wes Craven’s 1972 horror film “The Last House On The Left”. Despite playing such a horrific character, Hess also composed the entire film soundtrack, where many of the songs contrasted the harsh, frightening nature of the film. Hess has also written many songs for a wide array of singers, including Elvis Presley.
