David Fonseca, born in 1973, in Leiria, Portugal, is a well known Pop/Rock singer. He first began his professional life as a photographer, working for various fashion catalogues but he is mainly recognized because of his successful musical career.

Besides playing various instruments and being the author of most of his own lyrics, he is also responsible for the graphic designs on his album covers.

He has been influenced by famous musicians such as Jeff Buckley, B’52s, Pixies, Roy Orbison, Aphex Twin, Ryan Adams, all of whom play a huge role in his own musical creativity and individuality.

He first came to be known as the leading man on the very popular portuguese band Silence 4.

2003 was the year for David Fonseca first solo work, “Sing Me Something New”, where he played nearly all instruments, exploring his composer and interpreter sides more than ever. “Someone That Cannot Love” was the first single and it debuted on Portuguese radios in an innovative way: 150 radios played the song at midnight, on the 10th of March 2003. It was a …1 hit on airplay.
David toured for a long time with his first record. In fact, David has played all the big music venues and large festivals in Portugal since he started his career. He shared stages with international names like PJ Harvey, Portishead, Placebo, Tindersticks, Rufus Wainwright, Fatboy Slim, Beth Orton, N.E.R.D and many others.

Estive com o David durante toda a tarde de segunda-feira. Foi um dia excepcional, desde ao ganhar um vinil, a andar no autocarro com ele, estar numa ponte giratória...mais que uma voz imbatível e um grande artista, é uma pessoa extremamente divertida e sociável. :)
