Why aren't The Waiter or We're all Just Babies in our Mama's Eyes on the top tracks? I think I'm gonna have to do something about that.

Untouchable songwriter. The fact that his music isn't as widely known as it should be makes it shine ever more brightly. His stories are just so good and they don't have any tangental bullshit lines. So good.

I found out about this guy buying a Bright Eyes album. Dude at the record store told me to check this guy out and said he was a big influence on Conor Oberst and much better in his opinion. And years later, I agree with that opinion. DD is quite a musician. I saw Bright Eyes live this year and somehow it was more tragic than when I saw DD playing to an anorexic crowd a couple years prior. Conor Oberst is such a twat. "GO OBAMA, riot you guys like the people in Egypt!!!!!" all this said to a sold out crowd. ugh

Saw him in Indy over the weekend. David's an amazing songwriter. The show was excellent but it was obvious that the years of endless touring without the fan support to show for it has taken its toll. He's definitely under-rated and under-appreciated. One of my top fav musicians of all time.

Has anyone seen the new video for "South of the South"? The album is from 2005, but it seems like the video is just now surfacing... Anyway, it's cool -

Ignore my last shout..I was misguided. The fact is that people sing how they sing, and the music they listen to at the time always factors a big contribution to their style. After receiving an unpleasant message back from David when trying to ask him if he was influenced by Oberst, he got all 'I had it first' and I completely lost my respect for him and his music.

roguewolves, Conor has admitted to borrowing his vocal style from David Dondero and Simon Joyner. Dave has been around.
