David Bromberg (b. September 19, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American guitarist. Bromberg has an eclectic style, playing bluegrass, blues, folk, country and western, and rock & roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics. He has played with Jerry Jeff Walker and Bob Dylan, and is the co-writer, with former Beatle George Harrison, of the song The Holdup. He currently lives in Wilmington, Delaware where he owns a violin sales and repair shop. He occasionally performs at Wilmington’s Grand Opera House.

Jerry Jeff said that Bromberg is the reason that instruments have strings.

The quintessential musician’s musician, Bromberg is proficient on fiddle, many styles of acoustic and electric guitar (to each of which he lends a highly individual voice), pedal steel guitar and dobro. David Lindley, Norman Blake, Mark O’Connor, and Ricky Skaggs are among the small number of other major musicians with equal proficiency on three or more string instruments.

Glad to see folks discovering this fine artist. Note: The best artists see almost no airplay. One must hunt for fine music to hear fine music.

Attended many of Dave's small club concerts in San Francisco. Prefer him playing accoustic. Amazing work he did with Vassar Clements on "Hillbilly Jazz"

I saw him live like a year ago and it was amazing. I like all that I've heard but my fave is the solo acoustic Try Me One More Time. I hope something new will be put out soon!

Last night my parents got home from dinner at their friends' house and my mum gave me a record that their friend had bought for me. He knew my taste in music and that I collected records so he thought it'd be a nice gift. The record was Demon in Disguise by David Bromberg. Neither I nor my parents had heard of it but their friend insisted that I would love it. I listened through the album once last night before I went to sleep, then again when I woke up. This music is AMAZING. It's artists like David Bromberg that make discovering new music so enjoyable.
