When I believed in nothing I called her name
Trapped in a high-dollar joint in some place I called her name
And though my days were slipping by
And nights so cruel I thought I'd die

This song is amazing, even though rest of the album is kinda crap.

i just downloaded this album and someone's put a bad cover of the DM song in as a joke :O no way you could mistake that for bowie though...

If you had actually listened to the song (or even seen the video, for that matter), you would clearly know that it is NOT the Depeche Mode song of a similar name--both the lyrics and music are different--nay, even the subject matter. Do not be confused on that point.

I almost like this song, and I almost like the album. Bowie co-wrote this song with Alomar. I never heard that Depeche Mode story.

'This song is lovely and would be admired if it were on Let's Dance.' - too true, vigimael. And sad. It's a really good track but people hate it just 'cause it's on the 'bad' album.

    I believe Nottero has a mis-tagged track.

Depeche Mode's Never Let Me Down Again is also a brilliant song, and I prefer it, but on the actual subject: This song is lovely and would be admired if it were on Let's Dance.

What the heck is that guy below talking about? Anyway, love this song. Don't understand why so many hold a grudge against it.

Actually, it's a Depeche Mode song, the opening track from their 1987 album Music For the Masses; and it's NOT a David Bowie song. Neither words nor tune. Strangely though no credits to Mode are mentioned in the album. Cheapish stealing, I would say. Oh, and needless to say that Depeche original song sounds trillions of time better than Bowie cover version.
