Biography
David Bendeth
London England-born David Bendeth has been around music and musicians most of his life as a Guitarist, songwriter, producer and A&R executive. Self-taught on guitar before studying at the famed Berklee School of Music in Boston, Bendeth traveled back and forth between London and Toronto in his formative years before going on the road with the likes of Drummers Billy Cobham and Lenny White.
After working as a teenager at a record store and playing in the house band at London’s famed Speakeasy, Bendeth hit the top of the U.K. Charts as a blue-eyed soul crooner with the single “Feel the Real in 1980”. He went on to release three albums, ‘80’s Adrenalin (Epic Canada/EMI U.K.), ‘82’s Just Dessert (Ensign/RCA) and ‘83’s The Bendeth Band (Ensign/RCA) before joining CBS/Sony Canada as Staff producer. From ’87-’90, he was a songwriter with Chrysalis Music, penning songs for Joe Cocker (“Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right”) and Jeff Beck (“Ecstasy”) On the Flash album… David also has written soundtracks for Michael J Fox among others.
In ’87, Bendeth had moved to New York as an A&R executive at CBS International, but was back in Toronto the following year as Vice President A&R for BMG Canada, where he signed such acts as Cowboy Junkies and Crash Test Dummies as well as Canadian platinum acts Prairie Oyster, Charlie Major and Treble Charger.
