Dave Norris & Local Ivan is an alt-folk/pop-rock band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is a project headed by singer/songwriter Dave Norris. The band's debut full-length album Alma Mater (2011) is a big-sounding affair; loud drums and heavy harmonies. Lyrically, Norris sings about some of the more ethereal things, like sound, and light, and the popular arts, declaring in the title track "Maybe that's all there is!"
The group are no strangers to recording and playing out live having released two EPs, No Scuttle and New Thoughts in 2009 and 2010 respectively. They have toured through Montreal, Toronto, and in between several times. They are Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest 2011 Performing Artsits, and have opened for acts The Good Lovelies, Owen Steel et al., Flecton Big Sky, Minto, Parlour Steps, The Darling Daemas, The Wilderness of Manitoba, and Hooded Fang among others.
