Biography
Dave Lombardo (Sr.) (February 16, 1965, Havana, Cuba) is a drummer, best known as a founding member of Slayer.
Lombardo’s work with Slayer has been called “astonishingly innovative”.
Lombardo has been compared to the likes of Virgil Donati, Mike Portnoy etc. His extremely able playing in all of his repertoire and especially his live work has earned him a great reputation and consistent mentions in drum magazines and drum polls.
It should be noted that despite Lombardo’s work with Slayer that innovated and brought about his creativity, Lombardo is also an exceptionally skilled jazz drummer, as seen on his work with John Zorn and on Grip Inc. and Fantômas.
