Biography
Dave Kushner (born David Kushner, November 16, 1966 in Los Angeles, California) is an Emmy Award nominated songwriter and musician, best known as the rhythm guitarist for the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver. Previously, Kushner has played for Wasted Youth, Electric Love Hogs, Dave Navarro, Zilch and Loaded.
After co-writing the theme song for FX series Sons of Anarchy, titled “This Life”, with Bob Thiele Jr. and Curtis Stigers, Kushner recieved an Emmy Award nomination for the theme, along with Thiele Jr. and Stigers, in 2009 while he also collaborated with Franky Perez (Solo, Scars on Broadway), releasing three songs under the pseudonym of DKFXP in the same year.
Kushner’s first musical venture was playing guitar for Los Angeles hardcore punk band Wasted Youth in the 80s. He performed both guitar and bass duites on their final album Black Daze released in 1988.
In 1991, he contributed to the debut Infectious Grooves album The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move…It’s the Infectious Grooves.
In 1992, Kushner joined Electric Love Hogs which featured John Feldmann (Goldfinger), Donni Campion (Handsome), Kelly LeMieux (Goldfinger, MD.45) and Bobby Hewitt (Orgy). They recorded and released Electric Love Hogs, produced by Mark Dodson with additional production coming from Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee, in 1992 which featured contributions by Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction, Porno For Pyros, The Panic Channel) and Robert Trujillo (Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Ozzy Osbourne).
