Providence RI, United States (2001 – present)

Daughters (frequently mislabeled ‘The Daughters’) is a band formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 2001, following the demise of a similar Providence-based band, As The Sun Sets. Their music is fast and ; their drums commonly feature blast beats, and their guitars are a blur of high pitched squeals and fast fretting. With the release of Hell Songs, Daughters became more of a band - with vocals more reminiscent of The Jesus Lizard’s David Yow than a traditional or vocalist - and toured with bands such as The Locust, Russian Circles, Young Widows, and The Chinese Stars.

They have four releases: a self-titled EP (2002), Canada Songs (2003), Hell Songs (2006), and a self-titled album, Daughters (2010). In April 2009 Sargent House re-issued their Self-titled EP from 2002 with new artwork.

In March, 2010 Daughters released a final self-titled LP on Hydrahead Records, without longtime members Nicholas Sadler and Samuel Walker.

Nick Sadler, the ex-guitar player of Daughters, plays in a project named Fang Island, which is a band that breaks away from the musical style in which he played with Daughters.

I fucking loved 2010's s/t album. I was so bummed thinking they broke up after putting out such a gem. Stoked to hear new stuff!

I've been listening to the S/T a LOT again lately, and came here just wandering what is up and find out there may be new material coming out. Awesome!

GoatUser you really pulled that out of your ass. Lots of places to get up to date info. Why would you post made up shit on the internet? That's not nice.

Except they haven't been writing in the last 4 years, in fact they "broke up" because they couldn't stand each other and weren't even talking to each other anymore, so unless Sadler or Marshall felt like idling and write some shit on their own, they don't have any new material for the near future

4 years is just about what it takes to write an album in their case, so I keep my fingers crossed

Also, for anyone who still has doubts, this interview will clear everything up: -- But basically, good news: Marshall says that this band is still together (for good) and they never /really/ broke, they just needed to cool off because by that point they sort of hated each other. Also, to the people bitching about Fucking Invincible (And I used to be one of them) -- He's basically saying that you shouldn't take that band seriously. He knows its really just shitty generic hardcore, but that's like a vacation to him, just to relax (ha ha) doing the stuff he does. The main band was and still is Daughters.

I just noticed how much influence their S/t takes from The Jesus Lizard - It's like an steroid-addicted version of "Goat" at times, they both even vocals that are more often than not largely drowned by the rest instrumentas. Even that's selling it short, though -- It's like taking that album with the steroids, then combining it with classic Daughters sound, industrial-esque vibes and dancable rhythms for the latter half of the album. It reminds me of Swans, as well, particularly during the last song and "The Dead Singer". Such a fantastic album.

"They re back for good, i think." Here's hoping...the fact they booked a kind of random Australian show makes me cross my fingers for a full North American tour by spring 2014 hopefully...
