Dark Harvest was founded in 2002 by ex-Exizt guitarist Gulli Falk, bass player Maddi (Forgarður Helvítis) and drummer Kristján Björn Heiðarsson (Bootlegs, Changer). In 2003 the band released an EP entitled Deeper, which was recorded in the studio of Sigur Rós. They borrowed Jenni, vocalist of a local Icelandic stoner band BrainPolice. As a trio Dark Harvest released an all-instrumental self titled album in the summer of 2006.

In the fall of 2006 Gísli joined the band as a vocalist. In the winter of 2009 the band began working on a new album which is yet to be released at the time of this writing.
