Darin (born as Darin Zanyar, June 2, 1987 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a swedish pop singer and songwriter of kurdish descent and one of Sweden’s best-selling artists, with numerous chart topping songs and music albums.

Swedish “Idol 2004” participant Darin released debut album “The Anthem” shortly after reaching second place in the competition and becoming number one in the hearts of many girls and boys. The album quickly reached the tops of the charts, along with single “Money For Nothing”.

Darin Zanyar was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1987 from Kurdish parents and had to take a break from school in order to be able to focus on his music. He does plan to go back, however, as he feels an education is important. Darin’s favourite musician is Gwen Stefani, but the artist he’d most like to work with is Christina Aguilera.

Darin has released 6 albums, (one independent), 4 of which have debuted at number 1 on the Swedish Album charts. He has 12 top 10 singles on the Swedish singles chart, 3 reaching number 1. He is currently the third most successful artist to come from the television show Swedish Idol.
