And everything starts again...
No excuses this time and I'm three songs in to the album; Hell Ride Death Punk Blues. These should all be available to hear on line soon, though not on this page - on my band page, Luna Maria.
Yeah, there will be more. I'm not exactly Johnny On The Spot with recording. I'm never satisfied and I'm a bit... odd.
BUT... I recently set up a collaboration with a friend of mine from the States. We're gonna be working together mostly with the songs I already have written but some new stuff too. The plan is to play in as many places as we can over the Spring, with Jess on Bass for the most part, hopefully stompin' a bass drum too, and me playing as I usually would but with a tambourine and marracca tied to my feet. It might work. It might not. And then we wanna record this fucking album at long last in the Summer. In the meantime the intention is to upload a whole bunch of live take recordings and demo recordings on here. Time will tell...
Yesterday I finished the first of these recordings (though I might re-do the vocals yet), a song called Roses which I haven't recorded before in any form! I'm fuckin' pleased with it! I've almost finished Claire too and Charcoal & Sin, which is now almost seven and a half minutes long, with a section I used to play when I first wrote the song. I'll stick these first three on here in the next few weeks but the rest I'll keep until I'm finished, which could still take months... Still, about fuckin' time, hey?
I am at last making progress with recording these new songs! Since most of my equipment burned with my apartment I had to acquire all new stuff (besides my guitars... ain't leavin' my children in no fire!!).
Thank you very kindly to Glenn for letting me use his studio and equipment but unfortunately that didn't work out either... A conflict of schedules and such and sometimes I just need days and days on end of doing nothin' but music to make this work the way I want it to so I'm gonna record these the same way I did Emily's Songs, using pretty much anythin' I get me paws on. But the experience was greatly fuckin' appreciated all the same!!
As is Rox's very existence! Obviously!
I'm happy with the sounds I'm gettin' so far and I love the machine I'm recording with right now... Watch this space!
Sorry to keep you all waiting. Thank you for the patience and encouragement and all your positive words - the reason I ain't keepin' my songs locked in my head anymore!
hey sam, i'm a big fan of black keys so i have high standards too when bands are compared to em. its frustratin tho cause the songs on here just arent a reflection of dannys current material. i've been to his recent gigs n trust me, his new stuffs awesome. bluesier, edgier, more creative, more mature, better lyrics. more substance. he was prob jus finding his style on this 1st album ya kno? :)
