Biography

A literally indie collaboration between the American artist and producer Brian Joseph Burton (Danger Mouse) and the multi-instrumentalist artist Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse). Their collaboration was enriched with David Lynch’s vision and turned out as the Dark Night of the Soul featuring a wide rage of singers including David Lynch, James Mercer of The Shins, The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of The Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega and Vic Chesnutt.

Due to a dispute with the record label EMI, the album may never be released, however the book featuring 100+ photos taken by David Lynch is available for sale on the official website for Dark Night of the Soul along with a blank recordable CD-R and all copies will be clearly labeled: “For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.” It is currently possible to stream the whole album or individual tracks from the NPR website. This streaming process has been reverse engineered, making it possible to download the individual MP3 files directly. Additionally many torrent and file-sharing sites are also offering the album for download.
