[1] The album featured in this photo, Dandelions, was recorded in 1970 by ‘The Children of Sunshine’, 10 year old 5th grade girls Tres (Therese) Williams and Kitsy Christner, grade-school friends in St. Louis, Missouri. They wrote all the songs themselves, both played guitar and sang all vocals. They hired two college students to play acoustic bass (Wendy Katz) and drum kit (Mike Kieffer). The album was released in 1971 when the girls were 11. Three hundred copies were pressed and released. The album cover was developed by the girls in their photography class at The College School in Webster Groves (St. Louis County), a series of photos were taken by and of the girls during an outing with their photography teacher Frank and guitar teacher Jim Curran. One of the songs ‘The College School’ was written about their private, open-classroom grade school, that at the time was under the umbrella of Webster College (now Webster University) in Webster Groves, Missouri (St. Louis County). The grade school has since become independent and is still in Webster Groves. The school was completely supportive of the girls allowing them to perform at the school as well as on local radio, television and live performances during the school day. There was also an article with photos of the girls featured on the cover of the Entertainment section of the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 1971. Forty years later, 2010, both turning 50, they’re contemplating the re-release of the album after having been approached by two different record labels.

Tres Williams said in an interview, "The album was titled Dandelions. We called ourselves The Children of Sunshine, but were known as Tres & Kitsy (Tres & Kitsy is what was printed on the album labels)." I still prefer to think of them as Dandelions, tho.
