There are several artists using the name “Dagon”.

1) Dagon is a melodic death metal band from Michigan with a recurring aquatic or ocean theme. Songs like “Children of Poseidon I” “Children of Poseidon II” and “Feeding Frenzy” belong to this band who headlined Madfest 2006 in Lansing, MI. Although signed to a Christian label, the band attests they “Aren’t really religious, we just sometimes sing about religion in general.” Featuring former members of Summer Dying and Bestiary.

2) Dagon is also Black Metal band from Texas, USA. Formed in 2003, they currently have four releases: Architects of the Black Crown (2005), They who Abideth Amidst the Poison (2006), In Desolationem Per Nefandum (2008), and Black Lead (2009).
3) Dagon was a French Death Metal band formed in 1990. They released two demos before splitting up. Their music featured Lovecraft-inspired Death Thrash.

US black metal proves that most black/death metal coming from Texas is unbelievably killer

Yup, definitely some elements of death metal. It's probably because when I think of thrash metal I think Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, early Living Sacrifice...there are definitely a lot of thrash metal riffs though. But it doesn't really matter, Terraphobic is awesome. I agree, we can just settle and call them ocean metal =D Or maybe technical thrash/melodic death/ocean metal :P

Haha, I just looked it up online and some other record company has their genre listed as "technical thrash death metal" which is a bit overkill in my opinion. Whatev, I just know the ppl around my campus are going to get pissed if I keep blasting To the Drums We Rise like I do.

Ohh that makes more sense. And yeah, no, I just bought the album and it says "Dagon, Terraphobic ~ technical thrash metal." Heck I wouldn't label them anything other than Ocean Metal, but the technical thrash is just what they consider their music to be.

@MetalBladePerry I think it's because there are two other bands in the artists description above, one black metal and the other death metal. needs a better system to separate different artists with the same name... However, I would argue that Terraphobic most falls under the umbrella of melodic death metal. Sure, there are some thrash riffs in there, and at times the material can be technical, but those melodic guitar riffs just scream MDM. But hey, if the band itself describes it that way, no problem. Genres bleed into each other so much, and I love both genres anyway. And there are plenty of other great Bombworks bands, check out Seventh Angel's The Dust of Years ;)

Just to clarify, Dagon labels their latest album, Terraphobic, as technical thrash metal.. not black or death. Either way they blow all those other bands signed under Bombworks *out of the water* right right??? oh never mind v_v
